Spider veins can be caused by a variety of factors such as genetics, estrogen, sun exposure and lifestyle. These unsightly veins may be found on the face as well as the lower extremities.
Dr. Morris and Dr. Howell perform sclerotherapy to improve the appearance of these unwanted leg veins. A solution or "sclerosing agent" is injected into these tiny veins which ultimately causes fading. Patients receiving this procedure may see improvement in approximately four to six weeks. It is recommended that patients wear compression hose 24 hours a day for one week. Therefore, Drs. Morris and Howell suggest scheduling your appointment during cooler months, although they are able to perform the procedure throughout the year.
Facial spider veins can be caused by excessive sun exposure and rosacea. These veins are best treated with laser or light therapy (BBL). Patients receiving these procedures should expect a post procedure sunburn effect for approximately 12 hours. Mild scabbing may occur.
Drs. Morris and Howell are happy to consult with you and plan your individualized spider vein therapy.
